Book readings

For Schools and Libraries

Spreading the important messages of diversity and inclusivity are so important to me as a writer and educator. To continue the diversity conversation, I host book readings and discussion panels about Rainbow Paper and the lack of racial representation in children's literature. These events are open to parents, educators, and any members of the community who want to voice their opinions about the children's literature field. Find out how to set up your event below!

School Events

Kim Yoder, author of Rainbow Paper, will come to schools across the East Coast to read sections of the book to students. After each reading, the students involved in the assembly will participate in their very own rainbow paper chain activity like in the book. The goal of the reading and activity is to teach students about inclusivity and diversity.

Kim Yoder, author of Rainbow Paper, will travel to libraries across the East Coast to read sections of the book to children in attendance. After each reading, the audience will participate in their very own rainbow paper chain activity like in the book. The goal of the reading and activity is to teach children about inclusivity and diversity.

Discussion Events

These events are meant to open the discussion about racial diversity in the literary world for all those who want to be a part of the conversation. These events can be added to any school or library reading event for teachers, librarians, parents, and anyone interested in the literary world to talk about the problems within the field and solutions that can be created.
