The Best Diverse Children's Books of 2017

The list is in! The Guardian website has compiled their list of the top 50 diverse children's books written and published in 2017. This year was rough for many reasons (politically, ethically, natural disasters, etc), but the racial divide in literature is still a huge problem that hasn't been resolved even in this progressive time. But, to look on the bright-side of things, there have been some great children's books published that have added some light to the empty hole left by racial under representation in the literary field.

A few of my favorite books on the list are The Colour of Home By Mary Hoffman, A Hen in the Wardrobe By Wendy Meddour, and Ramadan Moon By Na'ima B. Robert. These are a few of the young reader options, but the list goes all the way up to teenage leveled books.

So, have you read any of the books on the list? If so, which books were your favorite? What did you like about them? What books do you think should have been on the list that weren't?

Click on the link below to view the entire list!

Until next time,

Kim
